Earlier this year, vocalist/keyboardist Victoria Legrand and guitarist Alex Scally—also known as Beach House—released their third album, Teen Dream. A collection of gauzy chamber-pop songs so enchanting Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste repeatedly twittered about its "insanely perfectly gorgeous amazingness," the album has garnered the hard-working duo a string of well-deserved accolades and (very) preemptive declarations of "best album of the year." Beach House isn't really an "ain't" kind of band, but the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" piece of folk wisdom runs strongly on Bloom. Despite the album title, the duo picks right up where it left off on 2010's Teen Dream.

Serge Gainsbourg Tribute: Beck, Zola Jesus, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Victoria Legrand and more
Aug 29, 2011
By Laura Studarus
It’s deceptively easy to see the career of French musician Serge Gainsbourg as one continuous punchline. With his distinctive vocal style—a muttered sing-speech—parodied almost into oblivion since his rise to popularity in the 1960s, the inclusion of his music in film or television seems to automatically indicate the horny bachelor, the ill-conceived seduction, or (horror of horrors) hipsters aiming to embrace kitsch with both hands. Last night at the Hollywood Bowl however, cool was the name of the game—as Beck, Zola Jesus, Victoria Legrand (of Beach House), Mike Patton, Ed Droste (of Grizzly Bear), The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger, Lulu Gainsbourg, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, sang, spoke and cooed their tributes to the late performer. Coachella 2010 Day 2 Recap: Beach House, Camera Obscura, Muse, and More
Apr 18, 2010
By Laura Studarus
Day two started out much like day one, in fulltilt. Despite a bevy of physical ailments left over from yesterday's marathon, making it to Camera Obscura's set on time was worth another painful sprint across the field. However day two was light on the heavy hitters, and after the initial close call, I didn't have to hustle to see sets from Beach House, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Hot Chip, MGMT, and Muse.
