All Star Cast to Perform Big Star’s Third in New York City

On March 26, Jody Stephens, Norman Blake, Ira Kaplan, Mike Mills, Mitch Easter, Chris Stamey, Matthew Sweet, M. Ward, and others will perform Big Star's Third with The Lost in the Trees Orchestra at Baruch College's Mason Hall in New York. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Thursday). More

The remaining members of Big Star (Andy Hummel and Alex Chilton passed away earlier this year) are joining together December 9th and 10th to perform classic 1978 album, Third. The performance will take place at Cat’s Cradle in North Carolina as part of the Stoke It, Noel series. More

Founding Member Passes Away After Long Struggle With Cancer

It's been a tragic year for Big Star. Following the sudden death of frontman Alex Chilton in March to a heart attack, their original bassist Andy Hummel passed away yesterday, after a long battle with cancer. Having penned some of the groups more beloved tunes, including "India" from #1 Record, and "Way Out West" off of Radio City, Hummel quit the band prior to Third/Sister Lovers. More
