Swedish sister alt-country/folk duo First Aid Kit (Klara and Johanna Söderberg) have announced Who By Fire, a new live album that consists solely of covers of Leonard Cohen songs, and shared its first single, a cover of Cohen’s “Suzanne.” More
British sister trio The Staves have shared a new song titled “Devotion.” The song will be featured on their upcoming album Good Woman, out Feb. 5 via Nonesuch. More
Swedish sister alt-country/folk duo First Aid Kit (Klara and Johanna Söderberg) have shared a cover of Willie Nelson’s classic “On the Road Again” via a video fittingly made up of fun footage of the band on tour. The cover is a fitting sentiment for these pandemic times when bands can’t tour and to that end proceeds from the cover will be donated to Crew Nation, which is “a charitable fund that was created to help people working backstage that were supposed to be working on shows planned for 2020.” More

Prior to that, in March 2017, First Aid Kit shared a new song, “You Are the Problem Here,” in honor of International Women’s Day. The song didn’t appear on Ruins and was released before the #MeToo movement took flight, but certainly addresses some of those same issues. This week, Swedish duo First Aid Kit is making a brief return to the U.S. for select performances on both coasts, including a set on Sunday at the inaugural Way Over Yonder festival in Santa Monica. Sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg kick things off tonight by revisiting the Late Show With David Letterman, this time to perform front and center. In November 2011, they appeared on the show, singing backup for Lykke Li. Under the Radar spoke with Johanna and Klara Söderberg last week, while they were still in Stockholm, to ask them about their appearance at Way Over Yonder and how things are progressing on the follow-up to First Aid Kit’s critically acclaimed 2012 LP, The Lion’s Roar. More
Klara Söderberg of First Aid Kit would like people to know that she and her sister Johanna were an active duo performing shows in Sweden before folks in the U.S. discovered them through their cover of Fleet Foxes’ “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song” on YouTube. “I don’t want them to think we were not making music and then did the Fleet Foxes cover and were like, ‘Oh, we can make music,’” Klara explains. “We’ve always been doing our own songs, and that has been the main thing.” More
