This morning nominations for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards were announced, with the ceremony to go down on February 15, 2016. Kendrick Lamar is nominated 11 times. The Dead Weather‘s new album, Dodge and Burn, is due out September 25 via Third Man. Just yesterday the band led by Jack White and The Kills’ Alison Mosshart shared a live performance video for the single “I Feel Love (Every Million Miles)” (which has already gotten a regular music video). Now they have shared another song, “Cop and Go.” Here in lies the rub: you can only stream via TIDAL or the Third Man Vault, both of which you have to be paid members of (well, you could sign up for a 30 day free TRIDAL trial). Last month, Sup Pop lost vice president Andy Kotowicz to a tragic car accident. He left behind his wife and baby daughter. Recently Sup Pop bands put together a tribute concert to their fallen friend—but it appears the Kotowicz story was bigger than the Seattle label.Now, non-label heavy hitters, including Muse, Foo Fighters, Band of Horses, Bon Iver, The Dead Weather, and Rolling Stones have contributed to an auction to raise money for the Kotowicz family. If there is anything we’ve learned about Alison Mosshart over the last decade, it is that she is a damn undeniable star, no matter what setting she’s put in. Whether she’s dueling with Kills partner Jamie Hince or collaborating with svengali Jack White, she exudes the sort of louche, effortless cool that you expect from rock stars, without ever coming across as apathetic. It’s refreshing then that with The Dead Weather, Jack White (the notorious busiest man in rock) is capable of letting Mosshart truly take the reins. More

Day two of Coachella 2010 alas offered few highlights. This year Coachella has put way too many great artists on Sunday’s bill, which will inevitably lead to a lot of Sophie’s Choice-like moments of picking between which favorite artists to see. Whereas Saturday’s bill suffered from a lack of must see artists, there was no shortage of artists worth checking out, it’s just that few of them delivered. Matters were not helped by the fact that the best set I saw was also the first set I saw. Almost everything underwhelmed after that. More
