Still no word yet on The Fiery Furnaces “Silent Record.” However, today sees the release of another of their many experimental projects, Take Me Round Again. Here, siblings Eleanor and Matthew each separately recorded six songs off their eight studio album, I’m Going Away, jettisoning everything but the original words. As fiery as the recent town halls over healthcare reform have been, it seems as though they’re about to get a little bit of a fiery boost. Experimental duo The Fiery Furnaces have decided to use their upcoming tour as a platform to galvanize support for healthcare reform. “Sure, we can disagree on the details,” the statement on the Furnaces’ site reads. “But Patriotic American Rock-n-Roll Fans must surely agree that our nation is in desperate need of health care reform.”

Band’s 8th Album to be Released July 21st

Brother-sister duo Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger return with their 8th album, I’m Going Away, to be released by Thrill Jockey on July 21st. The album was produced by Matthew and recorded and mixed by Sebadoh’s Jason Loewenstein, who also plays bass guitar on the record and has performed with the band since 2005. Drummer Robert D’Amico has also been playing with the band since ‘05. This time around Matthew wrote the majority of the music and Eleanor wrote most of the lyrics. More
