Gordon Moakes
Bloc Party
What was the best album released
in 2006 that few people heard?
I guess the Polaris record, Polaris.
Polaris were kind of knocking around in the melodic hardcore scene here
in the ’90s, now years later they’ve put out another record
on Gringo, which I kind of chanced across. It’s just elegant, crisp,
intricate and very, very beautiful. It’s crazy more bands don’t
make records like this.
What do you hope to hear more
of in 2007? Less of?
More drinking tea and watching TV; less
flying. But I’m living in a dreamworld, because we’ll have
a record out.
What’s the biggest goal
for your life that you have yet to achieve?
That’s a secret.
If you could be one fictional
character, who would you be and why?
Tintin. What an ace way to live.
In 2006, what was the best movie
you saw, book you read, and/or TV show you watched?
[The film] Volver was incredible.
I’d recommend that.
What, in your opinion, is the
most pressing problem that is affecting the world right now and if you
had the power, what would you do to address that problem?
Is this Miss World?
