From the Road Part 2: White Sea’s Morgan Kibby on Tour with M83

Sleepless in Seattle

We had a double header last night in Seattle, and all I can say is: Wow. You have moments with an audience, no matter how many times you've played, weeks on end, where all of a sudden it all makes sense, and they finish your sentences, your whoops your hollers. Thank you Seattle, that was truly special.

I woke up late after finally going to bed at 6:30 this morning…  Everyone was sleeping and I sat in the back of the bus, watched a very milky sun come up across abandoned pools and parks and shacks. We finally have two days off as we drive from Seattle to Minneapolis and everything is quiet. I love this part of touring: the stillness of empty spaces and forgotten stretches of land that scream everything poetic to every romantic bone in my body.

I decided to watch Badlands again as we were still driving and I, admittedly, emo-spiraled. I had forgotten how brilliant that film was, how inspiring. As I watched, I found myself getting excited for the east coast. Each show is getting better, the songs tighter, and each audience seems to receive the set with an exuberance you could only hope for. We are very lucky. Now to Bozeman, then Bizmark, then Minneapolis…
