Top Ten Albums of 2006
1. Archie Bronson Outfit: Derdang
Derdang—Truly unique psych-blues, one of the best
British bands in a long, long time.
2. Wendell: Marrow— Incoherent
ramblings with severe pop hooks on a non-existent budget.
3. Scott Walker: The Drift—Absolute disregard
for conventional structures and/or commercialism.
4. Lily Allen: Alright, Still—Still pop
music that actually aims to offend.
5. Stein: Ashley Down—The gatekeeper of
Nottingham University—magical triumph.
6. Tom Waits: Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers, and Bastards—Again,
doesn’t need anything.
7. Der Stuhl: Kinder—Magnificent soul
and psychedelia, good for the winter nights ahead.
8. Vetiver: To Find Me Gone—Inspired,
sounds like pure enjoyment.
9. Magic Tramps: Bootleg—Totally overlooked,
yet genius manipulation of 12 bar/rare boogie. Perfect for dancing.
10. Sonic Youth: Rather Ripped—Saturday
night melting into Sunday.
