What was the best album released in 2006 that few people heard?

I’m a big fan and supporter of traditional Scottish folk music, so albums by Julie Fowlis, Kris Drever, Catriona MacKay—I hope all these people find a bigger audience.

What do you hope to hear more of in 2007? Less of?

I hope to hear more good music, and less bad music. If only it were that simple.

If you could have any superpower, what power would you want to have and why?

I suppose I’d like to fly, just because it’d be a nice distraction.

Be honest: Did you watch any episodes of Rock Star: Supernova?

No, but who is Gilby Clarke trying to kid?

In 2006, what was the best movie you saw, book you read, and/or TV show you watched?

I enjoyed Marie Antoinette. I like Sofia Coppola films. They move at a human pace. Mainly been reading old books, but Ali Smith’s The Accidental is a good new one. Don’t have a television set.

What, in your opinion, is the most pressing problem that is affecting the world right now and if you had the power, what would you do to address that problem?

This question needs an entire 12 issues devoted to it. Where do I start?

Do you have any other thoughts about the current state of the world or the state of the music industry?

No more needs be said, it’s an industry inherently corrupt, but producing music, which is a life force in itself. Now there's an irony.
