The Damnwells: Pmr + 1
(In Music We Trust)

A gentler, slightly more thought-provoking, and, well, American version of The Stereophonics, The Damnwells are, for the most part, a pleasant take on the mainstream Welsh rockers. But it’s toward EP’s end that they’re just as dull and grating (there’s a combo!) as “1,000 Trees.” “While You Can” is Campfire Girls at their most subdued, and “Have To Ask” sounds like a dozen other alt-rock hits in the ‘90s, the ones you would’ve loved if it weren’t for the overkill airplay.
