Selected quotes from the digital issue:

I think we keep each other happy and entertained and positive, and I think that shows up in our music.” - Bowerbird’s Phil Moore

“You just pay a licensing fee to a publisher, and as long as they don’t deem it extremely disrespectful or disastrous to the original recording, you’re good to go…. It was like $700 or something, like 600 bucks. It’s crazy.” - The Darcys’ Wes Marskell on covering Steely Dan’s Aja

“Pop music should be like science fiction.” - Fanfarlo’s Simon Balthazar

“I’d never really written lyrics about my own life before. So it’s definitely scary. That’s the reason I like it so much. Because it’s fun to be scared sometimes.” - La Sera’s Katy Goodman

“I guess this will probably be my weird album.” - Lindstrøm

“The purpose of this record was to give my brain an outlet to imagine where my mom’s soul might be.” - Lost in the Trees’ Ari Picker

“I’m a veritable gear slut.” - The Magnetic Fields’ Stephin Merritt

“I remember on my 21st birthday thinking, ‘That’s it. It’s fucking ended.’” - Paul Weller

“I am present in this record as a character in a way I have never been in a record.” - Shearwater’s Jonathan Meiburg

“We’re happy if it all goes away tomorrow, because we like the album, and if we ever have kids one day, it would be a fun thing to tell them about.” - Tennis’ Patrick Riley

“Much of the album is about my fear of sex.” – Trust’s Robert Alfons
