These New Puritans convert their spastic energy to visuals in new video “Attack Music.” (Via P4k.) In it, dancers dance and writhe artistically against an ever moving backdrop. Surprisingly safe for work despite occasional flashes of borderline nudity. TNPS are touring Europe for their excellent sophomore album, Hidden, out now via Domino. - Laura Studarus
“The Ring” is the debut single off Jamie Lidell‘s forthcoming LP, Compass, and today the neo-soul singer released its accompanying video. On the album cut, Lidell is aided in his blues stomp by Chilly Gonzales and Grizzly Bear‘s Daniel Rossen, but here he’s left to dig for gold in the sand alone. The clip was lensed by Lindsey Rome in double vision on a beach in Western Australia.
The full album is available May 20 via Warp and the digital/seven-inch single is out May 4. Also, Lidell will play some N.Y. and L.A. album preview gigs.
Cults: “Go Outside” (Unofficial) Video
You owe it to yourself to check out Helene Park‘s unofficial video for Cults’ bloody brilliant indie-pop song “Go Outside.” Whoa, I want to hit the beach now. Cults’ Brian Oblivion and Madeline Follin are currently working on some official music videos as well. (Trivia: When they’re not making hit blog songs they study film.) The National
“Bloodbuzz Ohio” MP3
Mar 24, 2010
The National‘s “Bloodbuzz Ohio” is already a live staple, but this week we bring you a 320kbps studio version. Download and listen to it right here. The track will be the Brooklyn quintet’s fifth long-player High Violet, due May 11th via 4AD. Plenty of horn fanfare on this paranoia-filled cut and you’ve got to love Bryan Devendorf’s excellent drumming. They’re obviously shooting for the rafters on that chorus too.
Before you go, make sure to watch the band’s more subdued performance of “Terrible Love” on Jimmy Fallon earlier this month.
Avi Buffalo
“Remember Last Time” MP3
Mar 24, 2010
Recent Sub Pop signees Avi Buffalo will release their self-titled LP on April 27th. “Remember Last Time” is the latest mp3 released for free download. Its a seven-and-a-half-minute guitar epic reminiscent of Built to Spill’s contrapuntal style. If you like that, check out the much shorter track, “What’s In It For?”
See them on tour this spring and summer. The Long Beach, Calif. quartet recently played our SXSW party with JanSport. Also, make sure to read our feature on them in Issue #30.
Delorean
“Stay Close” MP3/Video
Mar 24, 2010
The Barcelona synthpop quartet Delorean turned plenty of heads in 2009 with their lush, sun-kissed Ayrton Senna EP. Soon they will follow that slice of summer with an LP entitled Subiza. Matador sub-imprint True Panther will issue it on June 8th. Pre-order it from the Matastore to get an instant download of the entire album.
The full-length’s title comes from the Basque town of Subiza where they recorded the dance music tracks. Barcelona music vet John Talabot aided the recording, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs/TV on the Radio engineer Chris Coady mixed the release. Listen to ebullient album opener “Stay Close” above, or watch the faded-out clip for the single below. The band can be seen on tour in North America, supporting Miike Snow. Check out those dates here.

Casiokids
“Grønt Lys I Alle Ledd” MP3
Mar 23, 2010
Here’s another catchy tune from Casiokids’ forthcoming Topp Stemning På Lokal Bar, out March 16th via Polyvinyl. “Grønt Lys I Alle Ledd” follows the single earworm-y single “Finn Bikkjen!” We profiled the Norwegian band in our current issue.
Also, watch the animated/live action vid for “Fot i Hose” below. The fun clip was directed by Aslak Helgesen and Digitalteateret and used the Prellinger archives for its dancey archival footage.
Drive-By Truckers
“Working This Job” / “Get Downtown” (DBT Webisode #2) Video
Last Tuesday (March 16th), the Drive-By Truckers released their ninth studio LP via ATO. In anticipation of The Big To-Do, the Southern rock institution is partnering with Ghost Town Media, to release a series of webisodes that tell the behind the scenes story of each track off the new record. We already showed you the first one, so here’s the second, featuring the single, “This Fucking Job” (aka “Working This Job”). The Patterson Hood-penned cut and Mike Cooley’s wry “Get Downtown” are played in between a discussion of their love-hate, 25-year partnership.
