San Fermin

San Fermin, the musical project of composer and multi-instrumentalist Ellis Ludwig-Leone will soon release its self-titled debut this September. Though a talented chamber-pop craftsman, Ludwig-Leone is the rare frontman that chooses not to sing the lyrics he writes for his songs, instead relying on the voices of others to help establish each work’s sense or tone and character. Whereas Ludwig-Leone’s first shared single “Sonsick,” distills itself in Dirty Projectors-evoking arrangements and the feminine talents of Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of the band Lucius, his newest offering utilizes the Matt Berninger-level baritone of male vocalist Allen Tate, creating an crescendoing piece of ornamentated, baroque pop. Click below to compare the two tracks. San Fermin comes out Sept. 17.
