“Pedestrian Support League” Video

Aug 28, 2015

Few contemporary Flying Nun bands fit into the label’s lineage better than Street Chant. For evidence, look no further than “Pedestrian Support League,” the trio’s latest single. In the space of five minutes, Street Chant manage to effortlessly summon the paisley pop, suburban jangle and churning grunge-punk traditions that have defined New Zealand indie through the decades; equally noteworthy are the lyrics, which overcome apathy just enough to run through a list of grouchy, scatterbrained complaints (“It’s always raining/Except for when I want” is but one gem).

Below, you can watch the video for “Pedestrian Support League,” which is a glued-to-the-couch portrait of the doldrums. The single was released in support of Hauora, a full-length that’s due out this November on Flying Nun/Arch Hill.
