We’re finishing out the day with one more premiere, this time for Danish collective Choir of Young Believers. Recorded live at Viktoria Recording Studio, the video is an elegant take on Rhine Gold cut, “Nye Nummer Et.” Check out the clip below. The band is also featured in our recently announced issue.
Check out YACHT getting their Velvet Underground on with this cover of “I’ll Be Your Mirror.” The song is a B-side to likeminded classic cover of French singer Brigette Fontaine’s “Le Goudron.”
Sometimes, when two bands really really love each other, they get together and make…a remix. Such is the love affair that caused The Darcys to give the already stellar Zulu Winter track “Silver Tongue” a dance/trance rerub. A stand-out track on Zulu Winter’s debut full-length Language, the new version is an all-together weirder, darker, and mysterious beast.
Says Zulu Winter of the remix:
“We haven't actually met The Darcys yet but when we do I'll definitely be saying thanks and buying them a drink...They've brought so many different layers and emotions out without really alienating the original which is pretty impressive. I love how it focuses on the darker and more claustrophobic elements which is epitomized by the reverse whispering vocals. It gives the song a real menace and broodiness that isn’t as obvious in the original. I tried watching the “Silver Tongue” video with this as the audio and things got pretty tweaked!”
Check out the premiere above, or catch the band live at the Mercury Lounge in New York on June 12.
“Pick Me Up” is an upbeat tune from Air Traffic Controller—the band of Dave Munro, who has actually done the job for real. Now a swinging six piece, the Boston-based band—whose tunes tip the hat to the likes of Arcade Fire and Mumford and Sons—are set to release sophomore album Nordo on June 26. We’re pleased to premiere a sneak peek.
Teen Daze takes dreamy to a new level with the video fro “Treten,” a cut from his forthcoming album, All Of Us, Together (out June 5). Check out the dance utopia-worthy clip. You can also revisit our exclusive Teen Daze Mixtape here.
Saint Saviour is the solo project of Becky Jones, a slippery-voiced chanteuse who has also logged time as the frontwoman of Groove Armada. Her debut album Union (due out July 24) is a peculiar beast, sliding from Cocteau Twins ambience to Antony-like operatic excess. Check out a stream of lead single “I Call This Home” below.
As previously announced, John Maus is set to release a rarities collection on July 17 via Ribbon Music. Today, we got a taste of that project in the form of 2004 track, “Mental Breakdown.” Take a listen above.
Take a taste of the forthcoming album by How to Dress Well (aka Tom Krell). Called Total Loss, and due out this September via Acéphale, the album is set to be something special if “Ocean Floor For Everything” is any indication. Check out the woozy, lush, track above.
