Night Shop

Stream: Night Shop’s Debut Album “In The Break”

Sep 11, 2018

Night Shop is the songwriting project of Justin Sullivan. His debut album In The Break comes out this Friday the 14th and it has been made available to stream in advance. The album stream premiered on Talkhouse with a really nice essay from friend and collaborator Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee.

Sullivan has worked as a touring drummer for the past twenty years and comes from the Kevin Morby camp of close-knit musicians. A couple of years ago, Sullivan decided to write his own songs and here are the fruits of that pursuit.

"It is is an album that lives in convenience stores, parking lots, late night diners and the strange cracks of life where a fleeting type of romance breathes. It's an album celebrating love and people. New lovers, old flames, former bandmates, far flung friends and the people we meet in the off hours. In the strange spaces and times that don't feel like the story of what we thought our lives would be. It's what we see in the break."

Night Shop is currently on tour with Waxahatchee and Anna St. Louis and will play a hometown release show at LA's Permanent Records in Highland Park, followed by a month of October dates with his Mare Records labelmate Shannon Lay.
