Watch New Mogwai Video: “Party in the Dark”

Aug 09, 2017

Mogwai's forthcoming album Every Country's Sun is a colossal and refined production and, dare I say, could be they're best complete album yet. Today they released the video for the fast and furious new track "Party In The Dark". Watch it here.

The press release provides some introduction to the video of the burning new single and new album:

Directed by Craig Murray and inspired by 80s sci-fi and horror movies, the practical effects film was created using silicone moulded sculptures, which were cast in wax and then melted. The video was filmed over 10 days a combination of stop motion, regular and time-lapse filming.
"Party In The Dark" has already enjoyed several weeks on the BBC Radio 6 Music A-list and has previously been described by Dazed as "a New Order-nodding melodic joy".

Every Country's Sun finds the Scottish band joining forces once again with producer Dave Fridmann for the first time since 2001's Rock Action. The new record takes two decades of Mogwai's signature, contrasting sounds - towering intensity, pastoral introspection, synth-rock minimalism, DNA-detonating volume - and distills it, beautifully, into 56 concise minutes of gracious elegance, hymnal trance-rock, and transcendental euphoria.
