The husband-wife and friends group from Portland, Oregon, Reptaliens, just signed to Captured Tracks and yesterday announced the release of their debut single, "Prequel/Olive Boy", out March 31st. Check out the dreamily domestic video for "Prequel" below. Right after another husband and wife musical team Tennis released a new album of free and easy pop, Bambi and Cole Browning follow in their own step, with the help of friends Julian Kowalski (guitar), Bryson Hansen (synth), and Tyler Vergian (drums).
Captured Tracks had this welcome for their new artists: "Named in reverence for their interests in cult mentality, transhumanism, and conspiracy theories, Reptaliens quickly evolved from a bedroom-recording project to a full-fledged band that explores fringe pop culture through analog synthesizers, electric guitars, melodic bass lines, and Bambi’s lulling vocals. Inspired by science fiction writers like Philip K. Dick and FM-2030 and music ranging from Paul McCartney and Wings to African artists Francis Bebey and Nahawa Doumbia, the band creates lo-fi chameleonic dreamscapes that fall sonically and visually somewhere between abstract expressionism and surrealism."
