In an effort to beat the heat and current economic state,  “Jelly Pool Parties” has just announced their line-up for the weekly free concert series beginning July 12th wtih Mission of Burma, Fucked Up, Ponytail, and Jemina Pearl of Be Your Own Pet. The Brooklyn shows will feature the likes of Grizzly Bear, Dirty Projectors, HEALTH, Fucked Up, Deerhunter, and The Fiery Furnaces. More

In what can be described as an appropriately quirky coupling, starting September 29th Andrew Bird and St. Vincent will be sharing a month-long stretch on the road. Preceded by a July 7th appearance by Bird on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, as well as several select shows with Death Cab For Cutie and the Decemberists, the joint venture will include a unique stop at a Portland, Maine high school auditorium. Victoria Bergsman is set to release her second album as Taken By Trees. Entitled East of Eden, the follow-up to 2007's Open Field is set for release on September 8th via Rough Trade. The former Concretes singer and Peter Bjorn and John collaborator ("Young Folks") recorded her new album in Pakistan with the help of local musicians. The album will come with a short film chronicling the experience of recording in Pakistan. More

On July 7th, R.E.M. will be digitally releasing a 4-song EP entitled Reckoning Songs From the Olympia. It will essentially be live versions of four tracks from the band's second album, Reckoning, recorded during working rehearsals in July 2007. The EP is intended to be a taste of what's to come in the two-CD set R.E.M. Live At the Olympia, which is due out this fall. More
