Chromatics
Johnny Jewel and his band Chromatics are expected to release a new full-length album entitled Dear Tommy sometime this year, although no official release date has been announced yet. In the meantime, while we wait for the full on official follow up to Chromatics’ widely acclaimed 2012 album Kill For Love, we can hear 30 seconds of the band’s cover of Cyndi Lauper’s 1980s classic “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” More

The BBC have announced that the fan-favorite character River Song will be returning to Doctor Who for this year’s Christmas special, which is expected to air on BBC America on Christmas Day, as they do every year. Alex Kingston’s character, also The Doctor’s wife, first appeared in the show opposite David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor for a two-part episode in season 4, but was a regular guest character during the seasons featuring Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor. The Elliott Smith documentary Heaven Adores You got a limited theatrical release on May 7 and was released on DVD and Blu-ray on July 17 via Eagle Rock Entertainment. Now it’s been revealed that a soundtrack is on the way and that it will feature as many as 16 unreleased Elliott Smith songs (the documentary did feature a bunch of unreleased Smith music). More
