As we reported in July, Sufjan Stevens' The BQE multimedia set will be much more than a typical CD/DVD release. The multimedia set is set to include audio of the 2007 song suite, a Super Teenage Hooper Heroes comic book, a View-Master reel and a DVD brimming with dusty footage of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway from Stevens himself. The Asthmatic Kitty release is coming October 20th via Rough Trade and you can pre-order the package here. More

Noise electronica mongers Fuck Buttons will be touring this November in support of their sophomore LP, Tarot Sport. This is the drone-y duo's follow-up to their debut album—2008's acclaimed Street Horrrsing. Andrew Hung and Benjamin John Power recorded with the legendary DJ, producer and remixer Andrew Weatherall. DC Comics has a rich 74-year history of characters, many of which have remained untapped when it comes to theatrical films or live action TV shows. While Superman has had five feature films and Batman has been portrayed in seven live action big screen adventures (if you count the 1960s Adam West Batman film), many iconic characters have languished in film development hell, including Wonder Woman and The Flash. DC and Warner Bros. (who are both owned by the same Time Warner parent company) have now taken a page from rival Marvel Comics' book and are forming a separate company named DC Entertainment that will help develop DC's characters into other entertainment mediums, especially films and television shows. Marvel was recently bought by Disney, but even before that they had their own film division. More

Shoegazing duo Asobi Seksu (vocalist Yuki Chikudate and guitarist James Hanna) is set to release a new acoustic album entitled Rewolf. The album is due out November 10th via Polyvinyl and will feature ten acoustic versions of songs from all three of the band's previous full-lengths, as well as songs that were originally B-sides. Rewolf also features a cover of Hope Sandoval's "Suzanne." With the release the band replaces their signature sonic assault and layers of guitars with new arrangements utilizing acoustic instruments. More

Speech Debelle has won this year's Mercury Prize, it was just announced at a ceremony in London. The British rapper was something of a surprise winner and beat out the likes of The Horrors, Friendly Fires, Bat For Lashes, The Invisible, Florence and the Machine, Kasabian, Glasvegas, and others. Debelle took the stage and immediately gave a shout out to one of her fellow nominees. "Big up The Invisible," she said. Debelle had told BBC 6 Music radio earlier in the evenining that The Invisible were her favorite other nominee. Ironically, despite her name, Speech Debelle gave a short speech. She thanked her label, producers, and family ("my gran's over there").The winner is awarded 20,000 pounds and Debelle also said, "Thank-you to whoever's name is on the check." More

The band's own Abstract Dragon label will release the package in conjuction with Vagrant Records on November 10th. The band is also working on a new album. More
