The National Unveil “Bloodbuzz Ohio” Video

The National's fifth LP, High Violet, came out today in the U.S., and the band's taken to the Internet to upload a music video for its lead single, "Bloodbuzz Ohio." The clip was helmed by Andreas Burgess, Carin Besser, and Hope Hall. It features leader Matt Berninger wandering outside all by his lonesome. Director D.A. Pennebaker makes a cameo as a barkeep. Last night at the downtown Manhattan venue, Le Poisson Rouge, former Neutral Milk Hotel frontman Jeff Mangum made a very rare appearance at a tribute benefit gig for the suffering stroke victim/New Zealand punk icon Chris Knox. Jez Williams of Doves Reflects on the Band’s Career

Those watching the progress of the Manchester, England-based band Doves over the past 12 years have probably all had the same thought at some point: When will their American ship finally come in, in a commercial sense? That consideration is purely a matter of comparison, however. With Coldplay forming around the same time and moving in a lighter though not completely dissimilar direction to Doves, it seemed only a matter of time before the trio of brothers Jez Williams (guitar, vocals) and Andy Williams (drums, vocals) and singer/bassist/guitarist Jimi Goodwin would have their own "Yellow."
