Alt-J released their third album, Relaxer, back in June via Canvasback Music. Now they have shared a video for “Pleader.” Isaiah Seret directed the clip, which stars Sophia Cookson (Kingsman: The Golden Circle) and Morgan Watkins (Kingsman: The Secret Service). It’s hard to say what the cinematic and strange video is about, but it seems to take place in Wales in the mid-1900s and centers on a couple and their son who live in a beautiful valley when a space object connected to the child hits and devastates the area. Watch it below.

Alt-J issued this statement about the video: “When we set out to make a video for ‘Pleader,’ Joe sent the following one line brief to director Isaiah Seret: ‘a Welsh mining love story; a tidal wave of earth.’ What Isaiah came back with was an epic short film, inspired both by the song’s source material and Tarkovsky’s The Sacrifice. A family must pit their desire to have a child against the knowledge that this would destroy their community. The hypnotic, hymnal quality of the song binds the video throughout, hinting at redemption while destruction takes place.”

Previously they shared “3WW,” which featured the vocals of Ellie Rowsell of Wolf Alice, as well as a video for “3WW,” and “In Cold Blood,” as well as a video for “In Cold Blood” and a video for “Deadcrush.” They have also launched a web game on their website, stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “In Cold Blood” with The Roots, and shared “Adeline.” They also shared a remix of “Deadcrush” by Berlin/London based duo Lea Porcelain, and another remix of “Deadcrush” by London based producer Ben de Vries. Plus there were remixes of the album’s “Hit Me Like That Snare” and “Adeline” by Shade (aka Eric Balderose), the vocalist/guitarist of American metallic hardcore band Code Orange.
