Animal Collective Critique YouTube Videos for Guggenheim Museum
Jury Includes Laurie Anderson, Darren Aronofsky, Ryan McGinley, and Takashi Murakami.
This will probably win the award for the strangest news of the day. The Guggenheim Museum asked members of Animal Collective to serve as jury members who select participants for this year's YouTube Play, an exhibition of video art at the famous New York institution this fall. YouTube Play is taking submissions until July 31. I really hope "Gandalf Goes to the World Cup" or "Mortal Kombat Fatalities Stop Motion!" make the cut. Heard "Wedding Video Surprise" is the dark horse this year.
The jury also includes The Wrestler director Darren Aronofsky, performance artist Laurie Anderson, and art stars Ryan McGinley and Takashi Murakami. Learn more about the exhibit here.
