Anna Calvi Unleashes Video For “Blackout”
Mar 25, 2011
Anna Calvi
The music of Anna Calvi is largely cinematic in its presence and power, so hearing her track “Blackout,” off her recently released self-titled debut, as it’s set to dark, charging images is an especially ethereal experience. MTV (yes, that MTV) recently premiered the Michael Baldwin-directed video, which intercuts extreme—and a bit obscured—close ups of Calvi bathed in either a red haze or charcoal shadow with the camera speeding down a train track as gold specks fall. Forget MTV—“Blackout” is meant to be projected on the walls of art museums.
