BBC America to Air Doctor Who Special On Christmas Day
Merry Christmas to All!
For years, American Doctor Who Fans have had to wait—often days or weeks—for BBC America to air the Doctor Who Christmas special, which traditionally airs on Christmas day in the U.K. No longer. This year, BBC America is putting a treat in fans stockings, airing the special on Christmas day.
This year, the Doctor’s holiday adventure will be Dickens-inspired. Aptly titled A Christmas Carol, the episode features special guests Michael Gambon (Harry Potter) and opera star Katherine Jenkins. Their adventures are penned by longtime producer, Steven Moffat, who (via press release) had this to say about the episode. “Oh, we're going for broke with this one. It's all your favorite Christmas movies at once, in an hour, with monsters. And the Doctor. And a honeymoon. And ... oh, you'll see. I've honestly never been so excited about writing anything. I was laughing madly as I typed along to Christmas songs in April. My neighbors loved it so much they all moved away and set up a website demanding my execution. But I'm fairly sure they did it ironically.”
