Back in February Scotland's Belle and Sebastian told fans they were considering launching a Belle and Sebastian cruise in 2019 and wanted their fans' opinions on it via a survey on their website. Well, it seems like the fans wanted it to happen, because today the band have announced The Boaty Weekender, a floating festival to set sale from Barcelona to Sardinia and back again on August 8-12, 2019.

It will include five stages featuring performances from Belle and Sebastian, as well as from other bands they like (the rest of the lineup has yet to be announced). According to a band statement there will be "yoga and cocktails and club nights and themed balls and crèches and quizzes and scrabble tournaments - and gigs." The first 350 state rooms booked will be treated to a performance of their 2000-released album Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant, an album they've never performed in full before. Get tickets here. Below is a statement from the band, as well as video they've put out about the festival. Plus there's their recent video for "Poor Boy" and their upcoming tour dates.

Here's the band's full statement on the cruise: "We have got our hands on quite a large boat, and we're loading it up with some ace groups for a four-day sail round The Med. Welcome to The Boaty Weekender: our new take on an old classic, The Bowlie Weekender. Join us August 8 - 12, 2019 on the beautiful Norwegian Jade as we depart from Barcelona and make our way to Cagliari, Sardinia to spend some time on dry land with you beautiful groovers. We want to do it right. Let's have yoga and cocktails and club nights and themed balls and crèches and quizzes and scrabble tournaments - and gigs. Gigs upon gigs from some of our good friends and favourite acts in rock 'n' roll across five stages throughout the ship - and instead of stumbling home to a damp tent in a dark field, saunter back to a plush bed in your own stateroom on a luxury liner.

"So what else can you expect from The Boaty Weekender? How about two unique performances from Belle & Sebastian, an intimate live conversation with the band, activities with each of us - and if you reserve your stateroom fast enough, some neat extras. The first 350 staterooms will attend a performance of Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant - an album we've never before performed in full. Reserve a stateroom during the pre-sale, and you'll get an exclusive Boaty Weekender vinyl that will look exceptional in your record collection. And there's loads more where that came from.

"Don't you fancy joining us on this floating festival with fellow fans? This party we're throwing just won't be the same without you. Let it be so. No checkout, and breakfast runs till two."

Belle and Sebastian recently released three interconnected EPs, all titled How to Solve Your Human Problems. How to Solve Your Human Problems Part 1 came out in December, Part 2 came out in January, and Part 3 came out in February. Then all three EPs were collected in a vinyl box set and CD compilation that also came out in February.

Boating is fun and it means a lot to me. When I’m depressed I went boating alone and at happy times I and friends go for a fun boating.
