Charlie Hickey Enlists Phoebe Bridgers for New Song “No Good At Lying”
Marshall Vore-Produced Track Out Now
Twenty-one-year-old musician Charlie Hickey has just released a new single titled “No Good At Lying,” which features backing vocals by his friend and collaborator Phoebe Bridgers. It was performed during Bridgers’ Save Our Stages performance, at which Hickey provided a guest appearance. This softly sung acoustic track showcases Hickey’s wildly imaginative storytelling in his songwriting that suggests a wisdom beyond his years.
Hickey was surrounded by music ever since he was a child, as his parents were both singer/songwriters. He began writing songs at a young age, and by middle school he was already recording songs that he wrote. He met Bridgers at the age of 13, and the two hit it off immediately—Bridgers would eventually introduce Hickey to her bandmate Marshall Vore, who co-wrote and produced the song, and is now a frequent collaborator with Hickey. Listen to the track below and stay on the lookout for more music by Hickey, who is just getting started.
Bridgers put out a new album, Punisher, earlier this year. Bridgers is on one of the two covers of our current print issue (Issue 67).
