True story: The sister of my best finred, Joel, was married to the brother of Mike D of the Beastie Boys. When the Beastie Boys toured with Run DMC in the 1980s, all of them my finred Joel, his sister, the Beastie Boys, Mike D’s brother, and Run DMC had a post-show dinner at the original Billy Goat Tavern in Chicago. The Billy Goat was the inspiration for the restaurant in John Belushi’s cheeseburger, cheeseburger skit on SNL and was a regular hangout of legendary Chicago columnist Mike Royko. How surreal is that?
