Lauren Mayberry, frontwoman of Scottish electro-pop trio CHVRCHES, has often spoken out against misogyny and the nasty sexist and sometimes violent Internet comments she has gotten from Internet trolls. She talks about it in our current cover story article on the band, for example. The band recently released a video for “Leave a Trace,” in which she wore a short dress, and the reaction from trolls was as strong as ever. Today she was interviewed by Cathy Newman for Channel 4 News in England about the subject. Watch below as she talks about her own personal experiences and what should be done about the problem.

In one chilling part, Mayberry reveals: “Somebody tweeted me the other day, ‘If you can’t learn to deal with this sort of shit, stick a gun in your mouth before the record even comes out. I have one and I’ll give it to you.’ Personally, that’s horrifying, if somebody put that through your door, you would go to the police with that.”

CHVRCHES are releasing their much-anticipated second album, Every Open Eye, on September 25 via Glassnote. They have already shared both a lyric video and a full on regular video for the album’s first single, “Leave a Trace,” as well as a remix of the song by Four Tet. The band has also previously shared a lyric video for “Never Ending Circle.”

Check out the Channel 4 News interview below, followed by the band’s tour dates. And don’t forget that CHVRCHES are on the cover of our brand new print issue. There’s an in-depth 8-page 5,600-word feature on the band in the issue.

Heya! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any issues with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing many months of
hard work due to no back up. Do you have any
methods to prevent hackers?

Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads
up and let you know a few of the images aren’t loading correctly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different web browsers and both show the same results.
