The CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival has announced the initial performers for this year’s event. CMJ goes down at various venues across New York City from October 20-24th. The initial lineup includes Broadcast, School of Seven Bells, Atlas Sound, The Antlers, Local Natives, múm, Japandroids, Margaret Cho, The Budos Band, Pitbull, The Very Best, The Temper Trap, Crystal Antlers, Portugal. The Man, Cymbals Eat Guitars, Malajube, Wild Light, Zac Brown Band, Das Racist, Suckers, Pissed Jeans, and Screaming Females.
Hundreds more artists still have yet to be announced and will be revealed on the CMJ website in the coming weeks. CMJ Music Marathon takes over 75 different venues across Manhattan and Brooklyn, promises more than 1,300 artists, and expects 120,000 attendees. There was a time when R.E.M. (1983) and U2 (1985) played this thing, so who knows, maybe one of this year’s performers will be headlining stadiums in a few years.
