Colin Meloy Sells Film Rights to Book, “Wildwood”
Project Optioned By Same Studio Who Made Coraline
Sep 09, 2011 Colin Meloy
Colin Meloy—often seen fronting The Decemberists—recently sold the rights to his first novel Wildwood—a book illustrated by wife, Carson Ellis.
The project was purchased by Laika—the same animated studio who brought Neil Gaiman’s Coraline to the big screen. Here’s hoping they use a similar stop-action style—to bring the magical-realism Pacific Northwest tale to life. I can’t wait to have nightmares about animated crows, wizards, talking crows, and over-priced coffee.
Can’t wait? Revisit the first four chapters here.
