Daniel Johnston “Is and Always Was” October 6th

Fall Tour Begins September 3rd

After an unlikely rise to fame (or infamy) though 2005 documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston, and seeing his work covered by the likes of Bright Eyes, The Flaming Lips, and Death Cab for Cutie, lo-fi troubadour Daniel Johnston is back with new album Is and Always Was. Out October 6th on Eternal, Johnston’s first studio album in seven years was a collaborative effort with producer Jason Falkner—noted for his work with artists such as Air, Beck, and Paul McCartney.

Rather than Johnston’s trademark minimalism, the new album promises a different, more fleshed out approach to music. Says Johnston of the paradigm shift, "Everyone needs to take their demos and go back to the studio.”
