Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release the 25th Anniversary Back to the Future trilogy boxed set on DVD and Blu-ray Tuesday, October 26, 2010 and there will be footage of Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly.

Eric Stoltz was originally cast in the lead role. He did five weeks of shooting but producer Steven Spielberg and director Robert Zemeckis felt he was too intense for the role and replaced him with their first choice, Michael J. Fox. The footage of Stoltz as Marty has never seen the light of day until now.

BTTF.net had an exclusive interview with Back to the Future writer/producer Bob Gale at the 2010 DeLorean Car Show where Gale stated the news about the set’s new behind the scenes documentaries: “So there are some stories and anecdotes told on camera for the first time. And since everyone wants to know, there are three very brief snippets of Eric Stoltz incorporated into one of the documentaries.” Brief might just be a few minutes, even a few seconds of footage, but it is better than nothing.

Along with the very brief snippets of Stoltz, the 25th Anniversary edition will actually “look better than they did in the theater because of the incredible job that was done on dirt clean-up. (And the film grain is preserved, so they still look like movies should look.) And hearing the sound in full dynamic range is - okay, I’ll say it - a blast!” said Gale.

Also, some other special features include an animatic storyboard of the nuclear test site sequence from the early drafts of part one’s script, galleries of artwork and stills re-mastered at higher resolution, along with everything that accompanied the previous releases of Back to the Future on DVD.

Don’t be like most people and disregard these kinds of offers. Believe it or not, some of these offers are not scams and are completely legit. How can companies give out gadgets such as the Apple iPads for free, you ask?
