Irish four-piece Girl Band are releasing a new album, The Talkies, on September 27 via Rough Trade. Now they have shared the album’s second single, “Going Norway,” via a strange and creepy video for the track. Watch the Bob Gallagher-directed video below, followed by the band’s upcoming tour dates.

The band’s vocalist Dara Kiely had this to say about the song in a press release: “‘Going Norway’ was one of the first tracks we finished, but the melody actually comes from a track that I wrote about 8 years ago. I saved that melody and brought it up when I didn’t have any ideas left, I was also doing a lot of mindfulness meditation around the time of it, so lyrically I decided not to use any pronouns within the track and the whole album - that came about when I came across this quote from the Buddha which was ‘Nothing is to be clung to as I, me or mine’ - and I removed all that in a way to kind of find an abstract world to live in.”

Previously Girl Band shared The Talkies’ first single, “Shoulderblades,” via a video for the track.

The band’s own Daniel Fox produced The Talkies, which was recorded in November 2018 at a stately home on the outskirts of Dublin called Ballintubbert House. It’s the follow-up to their 2014-released debut album, Holding Hands with Jamie.
