Jan 28, 2015 Glen Hansard
Singer/songwriter Glen Hansard, he of The Swell Season, The Frames, and the film Once, has announced that he will release a special tribute EP featuring songs written by his late friend, Jason Molina, best known for his project Songs:Ohia.
Titled It Was Triumph We Once Proposed…Songs of Jason Molina, the EP is scheduled for release on March 17, with all profits from its sale to be donated charity in Molina’s name.
According to a press release, Hansard was first introduced to the music of Song:Ohia back in 1996. After reaching out to Molina and inviting him to Dublin, Hansard developed a friendship and mutual admiration with the artist, often covering Molina’s songs live and referencing regularly as an influence. Says Hansard, “Jason Molina was a hero and a friend, I wrote him my first fan letter, I always loved his music and singing these songs is the only way to make sense of losing him.”
