Godspeed You! Black Emperor to Tour North America in Winter 2011
Also: Soundtrack a Cartoon

Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Get ready, North American fans of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. The long-inactive post-rock mavens just announced the dates for their tour, which will go down in February and March of 2011 (via P4k.)
GY!BE will start the major musical excursion at Minehead, England’s All Tomorrow’s Parties in December (with “Weird” Al), and then snake through some major cities in Northern Europe. More Canadian and European dates will be unveiled soon, but the concerts revealed thus far are below.
In related news, the veteran group will soundtrack a cartoon for Clyde Henry Productions. The company is run by directors Chris Lavis and Maciek Szcerbowski, and they’re using the Montréal’s band’s tunes as the musical framework for their latest project, L’Annee De L’os (via Twitchfilm.) Their previous film was the Oscar-nominated short Madame Tutli-Putli, which sported music from semi-GY!BE side project Set Fire to Flames. This new short is said to be “a seven minute experiment of sound and form” and will be making the film fest rounds this fall. No confirmation on whether they will use old Godspeed music or brand new material. Great news, abounds!
