Cartoon rockers Gorillaz return March 9th with Plastic Beach, their first album in five years. Always the pranksters, the press release describes the album as such: "The band have taken up residence, recording on a secret floating island deep in the South Pacific, a Plastic Beach HQ, made up of the detritus, debris and washed up remnants of humanity. This Plastic Beach is the furthest point from any landmass on Earth; the most deserted spot on the planet."

Of course, no man is an island, and no Plastic Island is impervious to outsiders. You too can invade...er...grab a listen to single "Stylo" via Spine Magazine. Twittered band member Murdoc Niccals of the "leak," "A leak! A leak! Plastic Beach has sprung a leak! One of those Russian pirates has put a bullet hole in my island! My single's leaked! STYLO!"

Despite (or perhaps in spite of) of what that might mean, we do have a few additional concrete details. The album will feature a series of high profile guests including Little Dragon, Gruff Rhys, Mos Def, Paul Simon, Mos Def, De La Soul, Mark E Smith, Bobby Womack, and Lou Reed. No word yet if they too will show up in cartoon form.
