After striking success as a group with Here We Go Magic, frontman Luke Temple is releasing a solo album. Temple announced today his solo effort, Don’t Act Like You Don’t Care, is slated to be released Aug. 16 on Western Vinyl. Since Here We Go Magic iinitially started as a one-man project situated in his Brooklyn apartment, Temple is no stranger to solo work; in fact, the material on Don’t Act Like You Don’t Care was actually created around the same time as Here We Go Magic’s 2007 self-titled debut. According to the album’s press release, Don’t Act Like You Don’t Care was unfortunately shelved in favor for HWGM’s stunning, career-making debut. While timing wasn’t on the side of Don’t Act Like You Don’t Care back then, it certainly is now. Let that be a lesson to all struggling musicians out there: Always have a back-up record.

Don’t Act Like You Don’t Care was recorded in two 4-hour sessions with a 4-track recorder. The press release contends the album “focuses on Temple’s songwriting and evocative tenor” and features everything from “heartbreaking ballads” to “jaunty pop gems.” For more about the album, check out the tracklist below.
