Hüsker Dü To Reissue Early Recordings For Record Store Day
Listen to "Statues"
Jan 22, 2013 Husker Du
Back in 1980 Grant Hart, Bob Mould, and Greg Norton booked time in Minneapolis’ Blackberry Way Studio to record what was supposed to become Hüsker Dü‘s debut 7’’ on Twin/Tone. The label backed out of the deal however, signing The Replacements instead, leaving Hart, Mould, and Norton to self-release their own four-song 10-inch. Because high costs forced them to change formats, the trio were only able to release two of the four songs, “Amusement” and “Statues.”
To celebrate Record Store Day 2013, Hüsker Dü are reissuing the long-out-of-print single along with “Writer’s Cramp” and “Let’s Go Die,” the two other tracks intended for the 10-inch. Limited to 4,000 copies, the double seven-inch will be available on April 20.
