“The Creators Project is a global network dedicated to the celebration of creativity, culture and technology” is The Creators Project’s mission statement. The group has announced that it will return to New York in October for a week of premiering art and scheduled original performances. The events will take place October 13 - 16 in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn. Of particular interest is a world premiere of a “psycho-opera” made by Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, which will be performed at St. Ann’s Warehouse. Directed by Adam Rapp, the work is described in a press release as “an assault on the tragic joys of youth.”

The main feature of the series will be groups of original works from the project. These pieces, the press release says, “have been showcased at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and at events in Lyon, Paris, Sao Paolo, Seoul and Beijing.” The NYC series is thought to include “United (a physical manifestation of ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating in Space’),” which is an installation created by Spiritualized’s Jason Pierce and director Jonathan Glazer that’s based on the Spiritualized song “Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating in Space” and that debuted at Coachella.

Last year, at the project’s inception in New York, the event included performances and work from M.I.A., Interpol, Mark Ronson, Die Antwoord, Spike Jonze, Nick Zinner, Radical Friend, Sleigh Bells, and others. Check out the website for The Creators Project below.
