Lala Lala is the project of Chicago-based Lillie West. Her new album, The Lamb, came out in September via Hardly Art. Now she has shared a self-directed video for the album’s “Copycat” and announced some more tour dates. Watch the video and check out the tour dates below.

West had this to say about the song in a press release: “Some of this album is about being frustrated that everything is always repeating itself. ‘Copycat’ in particular is about how everyone talks exactly the same on the Internet and it sometimes feels futile to try and be yourself.”

Of the video, West adds: “I made this disorienting art video for you. It’s supposed to be fun.”

The Lamb was our Album of the Week. Previously “Water Over Sex” was one of our Songs of the Week and we also shared the more low-key and haunting “Dove” (which was an honorable mention in our Songs of the Week list). Then there was a video for “Scary Movie” featuring footage West’s parents filmed of each other before she was born. Album track “See You At Home” was also one of our Songs of the Week.

West had this to say about the album in a previous press release: “The Lamb was written during a time of intense paranoia after a home invasion, deaths of loved ones and general violence around me and my friends. I started to frequently and vividly imagine the end of the world, often becoming too frightened to leave my house. This led me to spend a lot of time examining my relationships and the choices I’d made, often wondering if they were correct and/or kind.”
