Laura Marling is releasing a new album, Semper Femina, on March 10 via More Alarming Records, which is Marling’s own label via Kobalt Music Recordings. Previously she shared a video for its first single, “Soothing” and earlier today we posted another song from the record, “Wild Fire.” Now Marling has announced some North American tour dates for this April and May. Check them out below, followed again by “Wild Fire.”
Semper Femina is the 26-year-old’s sixth album and the follow-up to 2015’s Short Movie. Marling recorded the album in Los Angeles and co-produced it with Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes, Jim James). As the title suggests, the album tackles gender and sexuality. As Marling explained in a previous press release: “I started out writing Semper Femina as if a man was writing about a woman, and then I thought; ‘it’s not a man, it’s me. I don’t need to pretend it’s a man to justify the intimacy, or the way I’m looking and feeling about women. It’s me looking specifically at women and feeling great empathy towards them, and by proxy, towards myself.’”
