Liam Gallagher Drops Lawsuit Against His Brother Noel

All it Took Was an Apology

The Gallagher brother feud? Please, that was so last week. No really. While far from kissing and making up (ew), today Liam dropped his lawsuit against Noel—who (as Liam alleges) spread rumors he was drunk—rather than suffering from laryngitis when canceling what became the last ever Oasis gig.

It turns out that Liam is a man of his word. All it took from Noel to make this happen? A simple apology. (Either that or Liam was struck with fear of rooting for Manchester United alone.) While far from eating crow, during a web chat with fans Noel offered up the following, “Unfortunately there is truth in it. But you know, for the record it is a fact that he was diagnosed with laryngitis and it is a fact that he had a doctor’s note to prove it. But I’d just like to say though, if he gets offended by my opinions on such things then you know I apologize but it’s all getting very silly and a little bit out of hand and it’s not very cool.

Of course, the British tabloids suspect there might have been a bit more—namely, intervention by mamma Gallagher. Says The Sun, “Liam had spoken to his mum Peggy and she was upset by the whole episode. That was playing on his mind, then he had a moment of realization that Noel wasn’t being vindictive—he was just being cheeky. It was an anger that had built up over two years because he was so angry Oasis was over…In the cold light of day he realized his brother was actually being quite calm about it all, and decided a legal battle was a bad idea. Hopefully that will draw a line under it all and everyone can move on.”

The take away lesson: always listen to your mother.

For now the brothers continue to rock separately with their respective projects Beady Eye and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds—but if there’s one thing rock history has taught us is that there will be a reunion. We leave them with just one piece of advance:
