This Is All Yours Out September

After debuting “Hunger of the Pine” recently, U.K. band alt-J has released another song from their upcoming sophomore album This Is All Yours. The new album is a follow-up to the critically acclaimed An Awesome Wave. “Left Hand Free” reveals a slightly heavier rock sound, but it’s not missing any of the pristine polish we’ve come to expect from Alt-J. Listen below.

Update: In an interview with The Guardian, Alt-J confessed that “Left Hand Free” was written to sound like “the least Alt-J song ever” to appease the American label who wanted a more radio friendly song. Singer Joe Newman imagines it might actually do well among “American truckers with ‘Good Riddance To Bin Laden’ stickers.” Supposedly written in less than twenty minutes, the band did what they were asked, and even if they meant it ironically, it’s not too shabby. In a twisted turn of events, the joke revealed that they can pull off the whole rock band thing without even trying.
