Amber Arcades, the project of Dutch musician Annelotte de Graaf, released her debut album, Fading Lines, on back in June via Heavenly. Now she has shared a cover of Nick Drake’s “Which Will,” from his 1972 classic Pink Moon. Amber Arcades transform the song into a vibrant indie-rock number far removed from the original. Listen below.
De Graaf had this to say about the cover in a press release: “I’m a huge Nick Drake fan. There’s something intangible and obscure about his work (and especially the melodies) that I love. I thought it would be interesting to examine how these mysterious melodies would function in a more upbeat musical environment. I like how it turned out to be quite a poppy tune but the melodies still add this layer of strangeness to it.”
Amber Arcades is part of our charity Protest Auction in which we are auctioning all the protest signs from our Protest Issue, with all profits going to the American Cancer Society. The auction ends tomorrow at 2 PM eastern, but there’s still time to bid on Amber Arcade’s sign here.
