In 2011 director Nicolas Winding Refn delivered a modern noir classic with his Ryan Gosling-starring film Drive. Contributing to the movie’s acclaim was one of the best soundtracks in recent memory, featuring contributions from Chromatics, Cliff Martinez, Kavinsky, College and Electric Youth, and others.
As part of a curated project by BBC Radio 1 host Zane Lowe—approved by Refn—an alternative soundtrack has been made for the film, which will air on BBC 3 on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 10 p.m. GMT. Featuring original contributions from Foals, SBTRKT, Jon Hopkins, and others, the new soundtrack also includes a brand new song by CHVRCHES called “Get Away,” which premiered yesterday on Lowe’s radio program.
In an interview with Lowe, CHVRCHES’ Lauren Mayberry says, “We were really excited because musically, the kind of music in the original score fits in with what we are doing.”
