EL VY (the project of The National’s frontman Matt Berninger and former Menomena member Brent Knopf, who also records as Ramona Falls) released their excellent debut album, Return to the Moon, last October via 4AD. Now they have shared a remix of “Need a Friend” by Wye Oak‘s Andy Stack. Listen to the remix below.

Stack commented on the remix in a press release: “I spent the last quarter of 2015 playing drums on tour with EL VY. ‘Need a Friend’ was consistently our closer, and arguably the most high-energy song of the set. By contrast, when I went to remix it, I imagined it as a Sade-style slow jam (complete with horn solo), a genuine reading of the angst, ‘love’ and ‘heartbreak’ which the original presents as more tongue-in-cheek.”

Wye Oak’s last album was 2014’s Shriek and they’ve hinted that we might be getting new music from the duo soon. They also have a summer tour and those dates are below.
