Listen: Giorgio Moroder - “Diamonds” (feat. Charli XCX)
New Album, Déjà Vu Out June 16
May 14, 2015 Charli XCX
Next month Giorgio Moroder will return with Déjà Vu, the disco icon’s first album in 30 years. Already sharing selections from the guest-heavy LP, including the Sia-aided title track and Kylie Minogue’s collaboration “Right Here, Right Now,” Moroder has now dropped the single, “Diamonds,” featuring Charli XCX. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Moroder says that Charli had given him a vocal a cappella, which he then worked instrumentation around.
“I was surprised he reached out to me to be honest,” Charli explains. “He’s such a legend and I was truly honored. [The song itself] I wrote when I was 16 or 17 on my first trip to Sweden. It’s something that’s been around for a while and I sent it over and he felt it. It was something I had worked on for my first record but couldn’t get quite right.”
