Listen: Grandaddy Share Two New Songs - “Way We Won’t” and “Clear Your History”

A year and a week ago Grandaddy frontman/main creative force Jason Lytle posted to Twitter that he was tracking a new Grandaddy album. Well now we are treated to not one, but two new Grandaddy songs: the more upbeat "Way We Won't" and the slower ballad "Clear Your History." Both sound like vintage Grandaddy and we mean that in a good way. The new album has yet to be announced, but the band has signed a new deal with 30th Century Records, a label run by Danger Mouse. Danger Mouse had this to say about the signing and song in a press release: "Grandaddy have always been one of my favorite bands. I think their new single is up there with their best work and I'm proud to have them become part of 30th Century." Listen to both songs below.

Grandaddy have a special place with Under the Radar, as they were on the cover of our very first print magazine, way back in 2001. The article was in honor of their 2000-released masterpiece The Sophtware Slump. And while they perhaps never quite matched the heights of that album, they still had a very solid catalogue before and after that record. It's been a long nine years since the band's last album, 2006's Just Like the Fambly Cat, so hopefully it won't be long until we're treated to a new album.

I have heard some wonderful songs from the band earlier. I think they have been not active for a long time now. These two songs look promising from them. Maybe this will be the return of one of the best in quite some style.

I went on a work trip about a month ago and my buddy showed me this song and I didn’t consider anything about it. Come homespun to my granddaddy in the hospice on his deathbed. This song makes me call closely every time. Thanks for this!
